Men's S&D Earn Five Individual Wins Against EMU

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State men’s swimming and diving team fell 159-130 to Eastern Michigan Saturday afternoon at Lewellen Aquatics Center. The Cardinals were led by Michael Weber and Joe Morris who each came away with two individual wins.

The meet opened up with the 200 medley relay. Michael Weber, Joe Morris, Drew Tharp and Michael Oaks posted a 1:35.54 for second place.

Weber, Morris, and Cole Smith all earned individuals wins for the Cardinals. Weber turned in a 52.39 in the 100 back and a 1:56.68 in the200 IM, while Smith clocked a 22.00 in the 50 free for his first collegiate wini. Morris swept the breast, turning in a 57.03 and a 2:08.27 in the 100 and 200.

Andy Lamb and Cameron Watters both turned in season bests in the 1000 free. Lamb came in third with a time of 10:07.71, while Watters clocked a 10:38.83 for fifth place. In the 500 free, Nicholas Stevens earned second place with a time of 4:53.38. Lamb came in third at 4:55.07, while Jonathan McCormick turned in a 5:04.68 for sixth.

Season-bests were also met in the fly. Drew Tharp clocked a 52.18 in the 100 fly for second place, while Ethan Hall and Tucker Hale touched with season-best times of 55.33 and 56.12 respectively for fourth and fifth place. Tharp came in fourth in the 200 fly at 1:57.20, while McCormick and Hall rounded out the event with times of 2:03.47 and 2:04.63.

In the 50 free, Austin Goodman came in fifth with a 22.74, while Shane Brown turned in a 22.86 for sixth. Oaks posted a third place finish in the 100 free at 48.49. Smith and Goodman were right behind in fourth and fifth place with times of 48.76 and 49.81. Stevens turned in a 1:46.95 in the 200 free for third place followed by Oaks in fourth with a time of 1:47.95. Neal Fenning came in sixth with a time of 1:49.09.

Hale posted a fourth-place finish for the Cardinals in the 100 back at 55.15 and finished sixth in the 200 back at 2:06.98. Weber turned in a fourth-place effort in the 200 at 1:58.01, while Watters came in fifth at 2:03.58.

David Wood came in fifth in the 100 breast at 1:02.80 and sixth in the 200 breast at 2:20.25. Conner Snare came in sixth in the 100 breast, clocking a 1:03.75 and fourth in the 200 at 2:16.77.

In the 200 IM, Snare came in second at 2:04.01 while McCormick earned sixth with a time of 2:11.42.

The meet ended with the 200 free relay. Morris, Smith, Oaks and Tharp turned in a 1:27.18.

In the diving competitions, Jake Brehmer had a mark of 242.10 in the 1-meter and a 238.42 in the 3-meter. Evan Becker had a 214.87 in the 1-meter and a 207.60 in the 3-meter.
