INDIANAPOLIS - The Ball State women’s swimming and diving team earned three victories Friday evening at the IUPUI Natatorium. BSU defeated Xavier 94-37, Marshal 85-46 and IUPUI 93-40. Four Cardinals earned two individual victories and two relays captured the top spot.
Bridgette Ruehl once again swept the breaststroke, clocking a 1:05.24 in the 100 and a 2:22.93 in the 200. Stacey Wierman earned fourth in the 100 and eighth in the 200 with times of 1:07.35 and 2:30.47, respectively. Sumaiyah Ahmad finished in 1:08.36 in the 100 and in 2:27.90 in the 200 for fifth and sixth place. Cori Vormohr clocked a 1:08.44 in the 100 for sixth place and a 2:30.30 for seventh in the 200.
Emily Wisolek captured first in the 200 free and 500 free with times of 1:55.27 and 5:07.67. In the 200 free, Carlena Magley earned third with a time of 1:57.06 while Cheyanne Jackson came in third in the 500 free touching at 5:13.94.
Haley Richter came in first place in the 100 fly with a time of 56.33 and in the 100 free at 52.42. Mallory Miles accompanied Richter in the 100 fly and earned second with a time of 58.77. In the 100 free, Dana Graunke came in 10th with a time of 56.00 and Mallory Przybylinski earned 13th with a time of 56.89.
Freshman Madie Zirzow swept the diving competitions. She had a mark of 236.70 in the 1-meter and 258.75 in the 3-meter. Natalie Grissom came in second in the 1-meter with a score of 219.15 and third in the 3-meter at 195.22.
Ball State also earned victories in the 200 medley and 200 free relays. The 200 medley relay of Katelyn Pratt, Ruehl, Richter and Magley finished in 1:46.92, while the 200 free relay of Vormohr, Wisolek, Przybylinski and Magley turned in a time of 1:38.72.
Pratt turned in a second-place performance in the 100 back with a time of 58.85, followed by Larah Beaver and Jackie Iglesias who came in fifth and seventh with times of 1:00.38 and 1:02.10, respectively.
Richter added a second-place finish to her two individual victories, clocking a 2:09.82 in the 200 fly. Miles came in fourth with a time of 2:13.26 while Kayla Hussey finished ninth at 2:16.53.
Magley turned in a second-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 24.32. Graunke earned ninth (25.39) and Przybylinski finished 10th (25.53). In the 1000 free, Jackson finished fourth with a time of 10:45.94 and Mattson turned in an 11:07.36 race for ninth.
Pratt finished third in the 400 IM (4:39.05) and fourth in the 200 back (2:09.87). In the 400 IM, Hussey finished seventh (4:48.89) and Mattson finished ninth (4:55.95). In the 200 back, Iglesias earned fifth (2:14.82) and Beaver came in seventh (2:15.38).
