What's On Tap: Ball State ended its Thanksgiving trip to Florida with a 1-1 record after posting a 61-56 win at Bethune-Cookman and then closed out the trip with a 78-66 loss to Stetson. Freshman forward Nathalie Fontaine led the Cardinals with an 18 point personal best performance against the Wildcats Nov. 23, while junior guard Brandy Woody scored a team high 14 points at Stetson, Nov. 25. Also for the first time this season; Ball State managed to have five players score in doubles figures at Stetson, Woody (14), junior forward Katie Murphy (12), sophomore guard Brittany Carter (12), Fontaine (11) and sophomore guard Shelbie Justice ended the contest with 10.
About Murray State: The Racers improved to 3-3 overall along with extending its win streak to three games after their 63-55 victory over Lipscomb Monday night at the CFSB Center. Mariah Robinson earned her second double-double of the year after scoring 15 points while tallying 11 rebounds in the victory. Erica Burgess led all scorers in the game with 18 points. Murray State has lost to Western Kentucky (80-69), Indiana (63-62) and James Madison (71-51). Before Murray State's victory over Lipscomb Monday the Racers have wins over Longwood (76-68) and Evansville (76-62).
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Brady Sallee is in his first season at Ball State. Sallee's career coaching record is 138-113 and he is 2-4 with the Cardinals. He was named the the 11th head women's basketball coach in Ball State history May 10. Rob Cross was named Murray State's 12th head coach on March 31, 2008. Cross is entering his fifth year at the helm of the Racers. Currently Cross owns a career mark of 61-68 and is 37-40 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
The Series: The Cardinals continue their four game road swing Thursday when they play at Murray State. Thursday's game is the third meeting all-time between Ball State and Stetson. The series is tied at 1-1 with Ball State winning its last meeting over the Racers by a score of 90-72 in 2005-06 at Murray State.
