Women's S&D Downs Eastern Illinois

CHARLESTON, Ill. – The women’s swimming and diving team cruised to a 150-108 victory over the Eastern Illinois Panthers. The Cardinals captured first place in nine events while several athletes were able to get experience in different races.

The 400 medley relay team of senior Katelyn Pratt (Greenville, Ohio/Greenville), junior Bridgette Ruehl (Lowell, Ind./Lowell), junior Haley Richter (Roanoke, Ind./Columbia City), and  sophomore Carlena Magley (Waterloo, Ind./DeKalb) kicked off the meet earning a victory with a time of 3:55.31. This was the first time all season the Cardinals have competed in this event.

Junior Cheyanne Jackson (Atlanta, Ind./Hamilton Heights) swam a season-best time of 10:45.12 in the 1000 free to earn first place points for Ball State. Also capturing first place in lifetime-best time was junior Sumaiyah Ahmad (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) who swam a 2:26.26 in the 200 breast.

Richter tallied two first place individual wins in the 200 free and 200 back with times of 1:56.02 and 2:07.24 respectively. Senior Cori Vormohr (Portland, Ind./Jay County) came in first in the 100 breast with a time of 1:07.36 -- that time set a pool record at Eastern Illinois. Classmate Jillian Bischoff (Atlanta, Ind./Hamilton Heights) came in first in the 50 free (24.65). Sophomore Kayla Hussey (Goshen, Ind./Goshen) touched first in the 500 free with a time of 5:12.32. Junior Emily Wisolek (Middlebury, Ind./Northridge) claimed first place in the 200 fly with a time of 2:10.83.

Senior Mackenzie Imbro (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) swam a season-best time in the 100 breast at 1:08.39 while junior Jackie Iglesias (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora)earned a season-best in the 200 back with a time of 2:09.30.
