Baseball Hosts Successful Alumni Weekend
Ball State first-year head baseball coach Rich Maloney welcomed back hundreds of alumni for Baseball Alumni Weekend 2012.
The alumni participated in a tailgate at Ball Diamond prior to the Cardinals football game vs. Northern Illinois, a postgame gathering in Muncie and the Alumni Golf Outing at Delaware Country Club Sunday.
"It was great to see so many comeback for our Alumni Weekend," Maloney says. "We had former players return for the event from Virginia, Georgia, Ohio, North Carolina, Maryland and Michigan to name a few states. The love for Ball State Baseball runs deep and their excitement for the program is special. A special thank you to all those who came back and made the event special."
Maloney returns to Muncie this season after tallying 256 wins from 1996-2002 as Ball State's head coach. Maloney led the Cardinals to two Mid-American Conference titles and a No. 1 overall Major League Baseball draft pick in Bryan Bullington. Maloney spent the last 10 years as the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines.
Ball State this season returns each of its top four hitters and its five pitchers with the most starts from 2011.
