Firestone Delayed Two Hours, Tournament Shortened
Opening-day action at the Firestone Invitational has been shortened to 18 holes because of a frost delay in Akron. Monday's tee times were pushed back two hours to 10:30 a.m.
Instead of 54 holes, the tournament will now feature just 36 holes with 18 on Monday and the final round on Tuesday.
Check back later tonight for a complete recap of Ball State's opening round.
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State men's golf team heads to Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, to compete Monday and Tuesday in the Firestone Invitational presented by FirstEnergy Solutions.

The tournament begins with 36 holes Monday and concludes with 18 holes Tuesday. Monday's action will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
The event features 17 teams. In addition to Ball State and tournament host Akron, the field also includes Bowling Green, Davidson, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, Iowa State, Kansas State, Louisville, Maryland, Miami University, Nebraska, Ohio, Samford, St. Mary's, USC-Aiken and Wisconsin.
Ball State's lineup for the tournament features junior Tyler Merkel and four seniors -- Joe Gasser, Brodie Williams, Alex Stinson and Tony Lazzara. Freshman James Blackwell will be competing as an individual.
The Cardinals finished fifth out of 17 teams at last year's Firestone Invitational.
