Menís Tennis Ends First Day of Fall Invite
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team ended its first day of competition at its own 34th annual fall invitational Friday, evening at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
Four Cardinals advanced in their singles Flight A bracket, Senior Cliff Morrison, Sophomores Ray Leonard and Patrick Elliott along with teammate junior Austin Smith, will all compete in the quarterfinals Saturday morning. Morrison, Leonard and Elliott all won their first and second rounds in straight sets. Senior Dalton Albertin took down Jonathan Raa of IPFW by a score of 6-0, 6-1 but lost in the second round.
In the flight B singles senior Austin Sansone won his first two rounds and will take on Andres Maynez of Butler in the quarterfinals.
Albertin and Leonard paired up for the doubles flight A competition earning an 8-1 victory over Muddappa Appanervanda and Michael Sellitto of Illinois State. The Ball State twosome will face Dayton in the quarterfinals. Other doubles winners on the day were Elliott and Morrison along with the twosome of senior Alexandre Brym and Sansone.
The Ball State men's tennis team will continue action at the 31st annual fall invitational Saturday at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center beginning at 9 a.m.
