Field Hockey Hosts Missouri State and Saint Louis

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey enjoys a weekend at home when it hosts Missouri State and Saint Louis over Family Weekend and the field hockey Alumni Reunion. The Cardinals (2-5) opened up its home season with an 8-2 win over Lindenwood on Sep. 16 behind two goals from Tarel Teach (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes).

Several players scored their first goals of the season last weekend including senior Devon Bell (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee), Natalie Jardell (Granville, Ohio/Granville) and Jenna Rosenberry (Manheim, Pa./Elizabethtown Area).

Maddi Elliott (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) earned her first collegiate win this past weekend. She has 18 saves on the season. Shelby Henley (Novi, Mich./Novi) has made 36 saves this season for the Cardinals.

Heading into the weekend the Cardinals have the second-best scoring average in the MAC at 2.72 and are third in penalty corners per game at 7.14.  Tori Widrick's (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) five goals this season is the third-most by any player in the league.

SCOUTING MISSOURI STATE: The Bears are 2-5 on the 2012 campaign and are coming off a 5-2 loss at the hands of No. 22 California. Hilary Lawless and Olivia Nicotera each have scored two goals this season. The goalkeeping duties are split between Andrea Bain and Katie Mulloy who have made 25 and 28 saves respectively.

SERIES HISTORY: Ball State leads the all-time series 9-5, but Missouri State come up with a 4-3 victory the last time these two teams met on Oct. 30, 2011. The Cardinals are 3-2 in the last five meetings with the Bears.

SCOUTING SAINT LOUIS: The Billikens are 0-9 this season, most recently dropping a 6-2 decision to No. 16 Michigan. Lisa Smith and Tori Lycett each have three goals apiece this season. Meg Depew-Brady has made 45 saves on the season and has a 4.00 goals against average.

SERIES HISTORY: Ball State holds an 8-3 all-time record against Saint Louis. The Cardinals grabbed a 4-0 win over the Billikens in the last meeting on Sep. 5, 2010. Ball State is 4-1 in the last five meetings with Saint Louis.
