Field Hockey Travels to Louisville
MUNCIE, Ind. - The field hockey team is off to Louisville, Ky., to take on Davidson and No. 23 Louisville. All three teams are 1-1 heading into the weekend, with Ball State earning a victory last weekend over Lehigh in overtime, 4-3, before dropping a 5-1 contest to Lafayette.

Sophomore Tori Widrick (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) leads the offense for the Cardinals with four goals, including a hat trick in the Lehigh game, and eight points. Redshirt freshman Bianca Velez (Virginia Beach, Va./Floyd E. Kellam) has two assists on the season and two points. Sophomore Leanne Goldblatt (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland) scored the game-winning goal against Lehigh and has two points.

Freshmen Shelby Henley (Novi, Mich./Novi) and Maddi Elliott (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) have split up the goalkeeping duties in the first two games. Henley has made six saves while Elliott has corralled four saves.

The Cardinals take 14.5 shots per game to the opponents' 12.5 shots per game. The opponents have taken 11 penalty corners so far this season to Ball State's eight.  

SCOUTING LOUISVILLE: The Cardinals (1-1) opened up the 2012 campaign with a 3-2 loss at the hands of No. 21 Northeastern before defeating Miami, 3-1. Senior Haley Jurich leads the offense with two goals and four points. Senior goalkeeper Erin Conrad has made six saves for Louisville.

SERIES HISTORY: Ball State leads the all-time series 15-10, but Louisville has had recent success with a four-game winning streak. This will mark the first meeting between these two teams since Ball State's 2007 home opener. No. 14 Louisville took a 2-0 win at the BSU Turf Field.

SCOUTING DAVIDSON: The Wildcats (1-1) began their season with a loss to William & Mary, 5-1, before earning a 4-0 win over Georgetown. Freshman Anna Davis leads the attack for Davidson with two goals for a total of four points. Davis most recently earned a nod from the NorPac, earning East Offensive Player of the Week honors for her efforts  in the first weekend of play.

SERIES HISTORY: Ball State and Davidson have met twice, with the Cardinals coming up victorious in both of those contests. BSU earned a 2-1 win in the 2009 season, the last time these two teams have faced off.
