Blog Entry #1-Day One and Day Two
Not many people can say basketball has allowed them to travel outside the united states...but I can and I am very fortunate to get this opportunity and so excited to spend it with my Ball State family!
One hour bus ride, six hours of flights, and a two hour tour later, we have made it to Vancouver, Canada! The first stop a nice waterfront restaurant with great seafood, only bad part I don't eat seafood, so a chicken caesar salad will do! After dinner straight back to the hotel for some much needed rest!
We got up around 8 had an amazing breakfast buffet and then headed out to the Capilano suspension bridge! We had no idea what to expect, but we were amazed once we got there! We were able to walk across a suspended bridge amongst the tallest trees in Vancouver. The views were breathtaking and to watch some teammates (Jaz) conquer their fears and go across the bridge was just priceless! After spending a couple of hours taking in the views and activities it was time to head back to the hotel!
The next item on the itinerary was pre game at another unique restaurant in gastown called steamworks and it was just what we needed to get ready for our first game!
5pm tip off and we were off to a slow start, but then got it together and we ended up winning our first game my 30 points! It feels amazing to be 1-0 in august!
Tomorrow we will hopefully add to that undefeated start with our game at 1! Until next time!
Day 3 and 4
Although we embraced and learned from a loss this afternoon, we had the privilege of playing in the Richmond Olympic Oval. The rest of the day brought an adventure we never saw coming. We left our hotel in hopes to ind some souvenirs! We found just that and more! It was time to grab some food and we heard about this great place called Joey's. We got there and it was an hour and a half wait, so we decided to try a place called Black and Blue. The hostess said she could seat us right away in the lounge! We all thought that would be awesome, until we found out not only could we not afford The place but also everyone in the restaurant was in dresses and suits! The steak was purchased by the ounce and it was $13.99 per ounce, and keep in mind we were all in jeans and a t shirt. We thought it would be best to dismiss ourselves from that high end steakhouse! As we are walking out of the restaurant we should have known it was expensive seeing that gucci, Louis vouton, and Tiffanys were all in the same street. After all of this we ended up eating American burgers at red robin in separate booths! Overall it was a night to remember with my teammates!
Game number 3 was a success, we beat Thomas Rivera University by 31 points (77-46). tonight we will explore and shop some more as a team, finishing with dinner at Steamworks! we will then hit the sheets and prepare for our final game tomorrow at noon!
