Albertin & Smith Earn ITA Academic Scholar Athlete

MUNCIE, Ind. - Two members of the Ball State men's tennis team, Dalton Albertin and Austin Smith received ITA All-Academic Scholar Athlete accolades for the 2011-12 season.

"This is a great honor for Dalton and Austin and is a positive reflection on our team's commitment to academic as well as athletic excellence," said head men's tennis coach Bill Richards.  "We are proud of their accomplishments on the court and in the classroom."

Albertin has earned this prestigious award three times during his career at Ball State while this is Smith's second time capturing the achievement.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
