Women's Golf Team Announces Award Winners

Ball State head women's golf coach Katherine Mowat announced the team's postseason awards at the Cardinals annual end of the year banquet.

Autumn Duke, a junior member of the 2011-12 team, was named the team's Most Valuable Golfer.  Duke tallied six top-20 and two top-10 finishes for the Cardinals, including a tie for eighth at the Mid-American Conference Championships.  She managed a career best finish with a tie for seventh at the Eastern Kentucky Colonel Classic and tied for ninth at the Arkansas-Little Rock Golf Classic.  Duke also tied for 11th at the Indiana Invitational, tied for 14th at The Preview and placed 15th at the Illinois State Redbird Invitational.  Duke was third for Ball State with a 78.86 average on the season.

Jenna Hague, who earned medalist honors at the MAC Championships and was named to the All-MAC Second Team and the MAC All-Tournament Team, received Ball State's Freshman of the Year Award and the Elizabeth A. Dunn Most Inspirational Golfer Award.  Hague managed a 77.97 average and tallied a career low 69 in the final round of the MAC Championships, which included her first career hole-in-one on the 15th hole.  She won her first collegiate tournament with a victory at the Eastern Kentucky Colonel Classic, and followed that with a tie for first at the Indiana Invitational.  Hague managed eight top-20 and six top-10 finishes in her initial campaign at Ball State.

Meghan Perry, a sophomore for the Cardinals, was named the team's Most Improved Golfer.  Perry tallied a 79.21 average and recorded five top-20 and two top-10 finishes in 2011-12.  She managed a career low 71 and a career best 54-hole total of 232 at the Illinois State Redbird Invitational.  Perry tallied a career best tie for seventh at the Butler Fall Invitational, and tied for 14th at the MAC Championships.

Katie Windlan, the lone senior member of the team, received the Coach's Award.  She managed two top-20, including one top-10, finishes in 2011-12.  Windlan managed a season low 73 in the first round of the MAC Championships and tied for 25th.  She tied for seventh at the Butler Fall Invitational and tied for 11th at the Ball State Cardinal Classic.  Windlan averaged 80.68 for the Cardinals in 2011-12.

Ball State finished second at the MAC Championships and posted five additional top-five tournament finishes in 2011-12.  The Cardinals were second at its own Cardinal Classic, third at the Illinois State Redbird Invitational and fourth at the Butler Fall Invitational, the EKU Colonel Classic and The Preview.
