MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State sophomore high jumper Rebecca Lomax (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) has qualified to compete in the high jump at the 2012 NCAA East Preliminary Round competition hosted by the University of North Florida at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville.
The women's high jump competition is slated to begin at 5 p.m. Friday, May 25, with the top 12 performers advancing to the NCAA Championships June 6-9 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
Lomax earned a berth in the NCAA East Preliminary Round when she cleared the bar at a height of 1.78m (5-10) at the Polar Bear Invitational held March 24 in Marion, Ind., which tied her career-best set last season when she captured the Mid-American Conference Championship in the event.
Lomax, who is the only student-athlete from the MAC to qualify for the preliminary competition in the high jump, last competed May 12 when she placed fourth the 2012 MAC Outdoor Championships with a leap of 1.67m (5-05.75).
