In the latest Academic Progress Rate Report issued by the NCAA, Ball State University’s student-athletes in all 19 of the school’s intercollegiate athletic programs graded out better than the necessary 925 score, and 14 of the programs exceeded the national average for all NCAA Division I institutions.
Ball State was one of only four Mid-American Conference institutions, and the only NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision public institution in Indiana, which did not have a program record a score below 925.
"We are very pleased with the APR Report," Ball State director of intercollegiate athletics Tom Collins says. "Our coaches, staff and support services do an outstanding job of making sure our student-athletes are gettting an education, while growing socially and as student-athletes. Ball State’s outstanding reputation among its student-athletes is second to none, and the latest APR Report is evidence the university is doing things the right way. We take great pride in our student-athletes success in the classroom and we are proud of all they have accomplished academically."
The APR data submitted by institutions across the country is for the 2003-04, 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07 academic years. The data is a four-year average, and any score below 925 is subject to penalties from the NCAA.
Ball State’s 941 in football was the third highest of the 12 MAC schools, while the women’s basketball score of 985 was second in the league and the men’s basketball score of 933 ranked seventh in the MAC.
