The Ball State women’s golf program will host the second annual Duke Memorial Golf Outing on Friday, Sept. 26, 2014 at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Ind. The outing is held in honor of the late Larry Duke, father of former Ball State women’s golfer Autumn (Duke) Strong.
Lunch and registration will begin Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at noon and dinner and awards ceremony at 5 p.m. Online registration for the event is now available.
One of the biggest supporters of the Ball State women's golf team, Larry Duke was a fixture at every tournament, cheering on not only his daughter Autumn but each of the Cardinals. He and his wife Judy would even open up their home in Fishers, Ind., to the entire team.
Larry tragically passed away in September 2012 after a motorcycle accident at the beginning of Ball State's fall season. Autumn and her teammates rallied to win the Cardinal Classic a week later, dedicating the victory to the man everyone affectionately referred to simply as "Duke."
In his honor, the Cardinals held the inaugural Duke Memorial Golf Outing last year. Proceeds from the event go to benefit the Ball State women's golf program.
The cost for the outing is $100 per golfer, and that includes lunch and dinner. Dinner-only is available for $35. Sponsorships are also available from Gimme level ($250) through Eagle ($1,500).
Complete information for the event is available at the online registration page.
