"Ray and Austin's win against Buffalo was key in our victory on Sunday," Ball State Men's Tennis Coach Bill Richards said. "They made a nice comeback and finished strong!"
The deciding point came down to lone Ball State senior Smith and his doubles partner junior Leonard on the top court against Buffalo Sunday afternoon. Smith and Leonard found themselves down at the start of the match but regained control beating Jonathan Hannestad and Sergio Arevalillo, 8-6 to claim the point for the Cardinals. The twosome also helped Ball State to a 6-1 defeat over IUPUI earlier in the week after taking down the Jaguars’ Thomas Gans and Jacob Bradley.
The Ball State men's tennis team will be the No. 3 seed in the week's 2014 Mid-American Conference Tournament which will be hosted by the Cardinals in Muncie, Ind., at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center (April 25-26).
