AVON, Ind. -- The second and final round of the Butler Spring Invitational was canceled Tuesday because of snow, leaving Ball State sophomore Tyler Ostrom with a share of first place.

Ostrom finished tied atop the leaderboard with Garrett Browning of Robert Morris. Both players carded a 1-under par 71 on Monday in what turned out to be the only round. It was the first career win for Ostrom, a product of Warsaw, Ind.

Four men’s golfers and three women’s golfers from Ball State competed as individuals in the event at Prestwick Country Club. It was originally scheduled to be a 36-hole tournament.

Albert Jennings and Derek Kundenreich each shot 76 on the men’s side to tie for 16th place in the field of 43 golfers. Kundenreich, a Yorktown, Ind., product who joined the team at the end of the fall, was competing in his first event. Quentyn Carpenter shot an 81.

Kelsey Sear led the three Ball State women’s golfers with a 78 on a Prestwick course that played to a par 71 for the women’s portion of the event. Sear tied for 12th place, five strokes out of a three-way tie for first that included Detroit’s Lindsay Lammers, Cleveland State’s Shelly Ford and Green Bay’s Avery Steen.

Ball State’s Meghan McDougall tied for 24th in the field of 53 golfers with an 82, while Brenna Obergfell carded an 87.

Robert Morris won the men’s team race by nine shots, while Butler posted a one-shot victory on the women’s side. Ball State did not compete as a team.
