Zach Plesac, a freshman pitcher on the Ball State baseball team, was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week for his performance in the Cardinals' three-game series at Bowling Green last week.
With a sweep in the three-game series, Ball State improved to 16-8 overall and 3-0 in MAC play.
This marks the second time this season Plesac has earned the award. He also received the weekly honor after his performance in Ball State's games in Spartanburg, S.C., in February.
Plesac tallied a save in the first game of Saturday’s double header vs. Bowling Green by getting the tying run at the plate to strikeout, then started game two and lasted 8.2 innings to earn the win and improve to 6-1 with three saves on the season.
In addition, Plesac pitched the final out of Friday’s game in the Cardinals 9-5 win.
Ball State was scheduled to face Valparaiso Tuesday in Muncie, Ind., but the game was cancelled due to weather. The Cardinals are slated to host Indiana Wesleyan Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Ball Diamond.
