Majok Named Third-Team All-MAC, Turner All-Freshman
The all-conference teams were announced Monday afternoon, hours before the MAC Tournament tips off with first-round games. Ball State, the No. 12 seed, plays at fifth-seeded Ohio in a 7 p.m. matchup with the winner moving on to Cleveland for the second round.
Majok was named third-team all-conference for the second year in a row. The senior is one of 15 players in the country averaging a double-double at 11.1 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. His rebounding average leads the MAC and ranks 15th in the country.
The Perth, Australia, product and former junior college transfer owns 10 double-doubles this season, bringing his career total to 19 over his two years at Ball State.
Turner has played a prominent role as Ball State’s point guard in his rookie campaign. He ranks fourth in the league in 3-point percentage (.418), sixth in assists per game (3.6) and ninth in minutes per game (32.6), leading MAC freshmen in each of those categories.
The Indianapolis native also leads the league’s freshmen with 12.0 points per game and ranks fourth on Ball State’s all-time list for rookie scoring with 348 points.
Turner’s selection marks the sixth time in the past seven seasons Ball State has had a player named to the all-freshman team.
The MAC will announce its awards for player, freshman and coach of the year Tuesday.
