Day One of Miami Invite in the Books for Women's S&D

OXFORD, Ohio – The Ball State women’s swimming and diving team finished the first day of competition at the Miami Invitational. Only two events were swam on Thursday evening, the 800 free relay and the 1650 freestyle.

The 800 free relay of junior Elaine Pitsas, freshman Kara Berg, senior Stacey Wierman and junior Carlena Magley finished in ninth place with a time of 7:57.99.

In the 1650 freestyle, junior Kayla Hussey finished in 23rd with a season-best time of 17:58.55. Senior Cheyanne Jackson touched 25th with a season-best time of 18:09.30. Junior Leighann Mattson clocked a season-best time of 18:17.62 while freshman Genevieve Hayes turned in an 18:41.42.

Through two events Miami leads with 278 points followed by the University of Illinois with 195 points. The Cardinals have 54 points.
