Hague Places Second, Perry 10th at State Women's Open

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- Three current or former Ball State women's golfers placed in the top 10 at this week's Pepsi Indiana Women's Open, led by Jenna Hague's second-place finish.

Hague, coming off a runner-up showing at last week’s Women's Western Amateur, posted back-to-back rounds of even-par 72 on Wednesday and Thursday at Purgatory Golf Club. Her two-day total of 144 put her seven shots back of the champion, recent Iowa graduate Kristi Cardwell of Kokomo.

Brittany Kelly, who wrapped up her Ball State career in 2011, finished third in the state open at 147 (76-71). Ball State senior-to-be Meghan Perry tied for 10th at 152 (75-77) in the field of 111 players.

Two other Cardinals golfers -- rising sophomores Karley Dobis and Brenna Obergfell -- also competed at this week's tournament.

Westaway Reaches Semifinals of Toronto Star Women's Amateur
Ball State rising senior Sarah Westaway advanced to the semifinals of this week's Toronto Star Women's Amateur at Barrie Country Club in Ontario.

Westaway earned a spot in the 16-player championship flight of match play after tying for sixth in two rounds of stroke-play qualifying. The St. Thomas, Ontario, product won her matches Wednesday, 5 and 4, in both the round of 16 and the quarterfinals before falling Thursday in the semifinals, 4 and 2, to NC State golfer Vivian Tsui.
