Inside Football's Voluntary Defensive Workouts
RELATED LINKS

With the summer in full swing, catch up with the Ball State defensive players as they go through one of their many voluntary summer workouts.  Organized by the players themselvess, including captain Nathan Ollie, the Cardinals come together in the evening to run through skills work and grow together as a team.

Back in 2013 are nine of the team's top 13 tacklers, however, top tacklers Travis Freeman and Tony Martin were lost to graduation at the linebacker spot.  Jon Newsome and Ollie are both back to anchor the defensive front.  Eric Patterson, fresh off a breakout sophomore season, is also a returner in the secondary along with the likes of J.C. Wade and Chris Pauling.

Ball State finished 9-4 overall in 2012 and made its third bowl appearance in six seasons.  The Cardinals open the 2013 season Aug. 29, with a home game vs. Illinois State.
