Pair Of Swimmers Heading To Olympic Trials
MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State women's swimming and diving juniors Haley Richter and Bridgette Ruehl will compete in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials which will take place June 25 - July 2 in Omaha, Neb.
Both swimmers qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials when they competed at the Indianapolis Grand Prix held at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind., March 29-31, 2012.
Richter posted her qualifying mark in the 100 butterfly, when she clocked a long course meters time of 1:01.58 on the opening day of the Grand Prix. The Olympic Trials qualifying standard in the event was 1:01.99.
Ruehl equaled the qualifying standard in the 100 breaststroke, logging a long course meters time of 1:12.19 on the final day of the Grand Prix.
The women's 100 butterfly event is scheduled to get underway Monday (June 25), with the preliminary round beginning during the morning session and the semifinals taking place in the evening. The finals will be swum during the evening session Tuesday (June 26).
The women's 100 breaststroke is slated to start during the Tuesday (June 26) morning session, with the semifinals running in the evening. The finals will take place in the late session Wednesday (June 27).
