Men's Tennis Signs Two for 2011-12

MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State University men's tennis coach Bill Richards has announced the signing of Patrick Elliott (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville H.S.) and Ray Leonard (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington North H.S.) to national letters of intent to compete on the men's tennis team.

"The signing of Ray and Patrick add two more excellent players from Indiana to our already young squad," said Richards. "I believe they are both capable of contributing significantly right away. Both are excellent students and are great additions to our program. I am eager to get them here and work with them. They are both hard workers and highly motivated.  We are in a period where the state of Indiana is turning out some excellent players and we are cashing in on the talent close to home."

Elliott is a four-year letter winner at Jeffersonville High School where he finished with a career record of 88-16.  As a senior, Elliott finished with a 25-3 record while being named to All-District Five, All-State and All-Hoosier Hills Conference teams.  He was also recognized as an Indiana All Star.  Elliott ranks 169th in nation, 21st in the Midwest and fifth in the state of Indiana.

Leonard owns a career record of 64-9 at Bloomington North High School where he was state runner-up as a junior.  He did not play his senior year of prep school but played in USTA National and ITF junior circuit tournaments.  Leonard received First Team All-State as a junior along with all-conference honors.  He ranks 143rd on, 16th in the Midwest and fourth in the state of Indiana.
