►VS. BOWLING GREEN: Ball State owns a 36-16-1 lead in the all-time series against the Falcons, including two straight wins ... Prior to BSU's two wins, the Falcons has won six straight in the series after snapping a 24-match losing streak to the Cardinals ... The RedHawks will host Toledo Friday, before Ball State travels to Oxford Saturday ... Last week, Miami fell at Central Michigan (1-3) before picking up its first MAC win of the season at Eastern Michigan (3-0) ... Meg Riley paces the RedHawks attack and ranks eighth in the MAC with a 3.40 kills-per-set average, while Madison Dodd is second on the squad at 1.92 ... Riley and Amy Kendall have combined to set the Miami offense to a .180 hitting mark this season, which ranks 11th in the league ... Madison Hardy anchors the RedHawks backcourt with a 4.55 digs-per-set average to rank sixth in the MAC ... As a team, the Miami defense has allowed opponents to connect for a .219 hitting mark which ranks 11th in the league.
►IN THE NCAA STAT RANKINGS: Ball State enters the weekend ranked 44th in the nation with a 13.89 team kills-per-set average, while its .232 hitting percentage is 72nd among the 330 NCAA Division I programs ... Individually, Jacqui Seidel ranks 31st in the nation with her 11.20 assists-per-set average, Lisa Scott is 53rd with her .359 hitting mark, Kara Bates is 64th with her 3.91 kills-per-set average and Catie Fredrich is 71st at 4.81 digs-per-set.
►DOMINATING THE MAC: Senior middle hitter Lisa Scott has found her grove in the Ball State lineup since the beginning of league play, racking up a MAC-leading .440 hitting percentage in BSU's eight conference matches ... Western Michigan's Ranney Richelle is second in MAC-only contests with a .364 hitting effort ... Scott, who hit .304 in BSU's 13 pre-conference matches, has hit .304-or-better in seven of BSU's eight league contests, including above .500 efforts in three of the last four matches.
►LEADING THE PACK: Senior outside hitter Kara Bates has led the Ball State attack in kills 16 times this season, including 13 of the last 15 matches ... She posted a career-high 24 kills at Northern Colorado (Sept. 8), while collecting 19 kills in four other matches ... A 2011 First Team All-MAC selection, Bates currently ranks third in the MAC with a 3.91 kills-per-set average ... Last season, Bates only averaged 2.95 kills per set over the first 21 matches of the season.
►FILLING IN: After playing the previous five matches on the left side for the injury depleted Ball State front line, freshman Jenna Spadafora move back to setter last weekend with junior Jacqui Seidel out of the lineup due to injury ... In her two matches running the BSU offense, Spadafora helped the Cardinals post a .221 team hitting mark and dished out 11.83 assists-per-set ... The effort helped the Cardinals climb to first in the MAC with a .232 team attack percentage for the season ... BSU also posted 14.00 kills per set in the two matches, improving upon its 13.89 average which ranks second in the conference.
►HELP IN THE BACK ROW: Freshman Kati Vasalakis made her first career start at libero last Saturday versus Ohio when junior Catie Fredrich was forced to miss the first match of her career due to injury ... Vasalakis finished the match with six digs and handed out a career-best three assists ... Over the last five matches, Vasalakis ranks third on the team with 35 digs, including a career-high 11 versus Eastern Michigan (Oct. 6) ... Her .942 (97-of-103) reception percentage over the last five matches ranks second among BSU's primary passers.
►DIGGING DEEP: With her 13 digs last week, Catie Fredrich remains eighth in program history with 1,165 career digs ... Fredrich is 40 digs shy of passing Megan Hammons (1998-2001) career total of 1,204 for seventh on BSU's all-time list ... Fredrich's 61 career matches with double-figure digs ranks sixth on BSU's career charts, while her 3.87 career digs-per-set average is fourth.
►LOOKING RIGHT: In her first two career starts on the right side for Ball State, redshirt freshman Hayley Benson blasted 18 total kills and hit .368 (18-4-38) last weekend ... In her first career start versus Kent State, Benson blasted a career-high 10 kills and hit .500 (10-1-18) ... She followed with eight kills and a .250 (8-3-20) hitting mark versus Ohio ... Over her first 10 career matches, Benson only recorded 17 kills on 69 swings.
