Field Hockey Suffers 3-0 Setback to Northwestern

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State field hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 12 Northwestern. Sophomore goalkeeper Shelby Henley made 15 saves for the Cardinals.

With the win the Cardinals fall to 2-3 while the Wildcats improve to 5-1 on the season.

The Wildcats got on the board early with Dominique Masters scoring in the sixth minute. Caroline Troncelliti got a pass from Nikki Parsley in the 25th minute to help Northwestern take a 2-0 lead heading into halftime. The pair would swap roles in the 46th minute with Parsley registering the goal.

Redshirt sophomore Bianca Velez was credited with two defensive saves while Henley was able to swat away 15 shots from the Wildcats.

Freshman Lexi Kavanaugh, sophomore Bethany Han and junior Tarel Teach each were credited with two shots.

The Cardinals take a break from competition and are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 21 when they travel to Lindenwood before visiting Saint Louis on Sunday, Sept. 22.
